Forwarding Your
E-mails from Ego
Here are the steps to follow to
forward e-mails from your ego account to another e-mail
account. Please note that the forwarding feature and the vacation
message feature do not work concurrently therefore they should not be
enabled at the same time.
Forward your e-mails:
-
For Windows users click on the Start button and
choose Run...
-
In the box type: Telnet ego (or Telnet
132.206.106.211).
-
Log in to your ego account with your
username and password (the username and password are exactly the same
as the ones you use for your e-mail).
-
Once you are authenticated you will be at the root
prompt of ego (ego%).
Type the command "pico .forward"
(without the quotations). Please note the space between pico and
.forward
-
On the screen that follows type the e-mail address that
you would like to have your e-mails forwarded to (for example if you
would like to have your e-mails forwarded to johndoe@mcgill.ca type the
entire e-mail address on the screen). Press Ctrl-X to exit and you will
be prompted to save your changes.
Cancel the forwarding of e-mails:
-
Log in to your ego account exactly the same
way as before when you enable the forwarding feature.
-
At the root prompt of ego type the command "rm
.forward" (without the quotations). Please note the space between
rm and .forward
