Prof. Ramsay's Ftp Site

An R package fda is now where you should go to obtain the latest version of the software in R. The Matlab versions are available from my ftp site.

The Matlab versions of these functions are almost always much faster than their R counterparts, and especially for optimizations requiring iterative improvement of an objective function, such as for monotone and positive smoothing, and for continuous registration. We typically see factors for speed of between 5 and 10 times.
