I recently completed a Bachelor of
Arts in Psychology at York University and have been working as lab
coordinator for the MIDC since April 2007. In my spare time, I read,
write, and obsess over the minute details of 'talk talk' songs. |
|
I'm in my final year of my B.A. and am
currently doing my second honours project with Dr. Kris Onishi. I am
interested in psycho- and neuro- linguistics, specifically in syntactic
processing. Last year I studied the neurophysiological processing of
syntactic information in late second language learners, and this year I
am happy to be given the opportunity to work with infants. I hope to
pursue graduate study and a research career in the future. |

Hi, my name is Elizabeth, and
I’m in my 4th and final year at McGill. I’m from
Massachusetts and am doing a double major in Linguistics and
Psychology, with a minor in French. This is my first semester
volunteering in a lab, so I’m very excited to learn about the
different studies and to gain first-hand knowledge of how research is
carried out. My main interests in psychology are language acquisition,
the neuroscience of language, social psychology and personality.
I’m still undecided about my plans for next year, but I hope
to attend graduate school in the near future. In my free time I enjoy
exploring different restaurants, walking on Mont Royal, arts and crafts
night at Cock n’Bull and trying to take full advantage of my
last year in Montreal. |
|
I'm
studying
Psychology and Cognitive Science and have one semester left at McGill.
I'm very interested in how language is involved in our
actions, thoughts, and social interactions. In the future, I
hope to pursue a PhD in experimental psychology. Outside of
the lab, my interests revolve around art, reading, and exploring the
city by bike. |

I
am a fourth year
Honours Psychology student here at McGill, and this is my second year
at MIDC. I am very interested in developmental psychology, especially
language acquisition, and this year my research project examines
phonotactic regularities’ effect on word learning. Eventually
I plan to go into the field of applied research, preferably in
education. Outside the lab I love trying new restaurants and coffee
shops, taking walks to random places, TV nights with my roommate, and
the occasional run around my neighborhood. |
|
I
am in my last year
at McGill, majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Anthropology.
Some of my interests in these fields include embodiment psychology,
distributed cognition, cognitive neuroscience, and the
prosody-pragmatics interface. Currently, I am working on a study
examining how infants learn about syllable structure and parse these
units from a stream of speech using cues such as statistics and
acoustics. In the future, I hope to work as a storyteller, and
specifically as a research scientist, a cognitive ethnographer, and
teacher in an inclusive classroom. In my free time, I love to dance,
cook up a storm, and write. |

My name is Michele Boileau-Falardeau,
U3 biology student. My research interests are very vast but
my main focus is Conservation. My non academic passions are
traveling, learning new languages and experiencing new cultures. Now
you must wonder where my interest for MIDC comes from. Well,
above all, I like to gain new perspectives and I felt like doing so in
such a positive environment could be awesome … and it is! |
|
I'm
a third year
Psychology major here at McGill, minoring in Humanistic Studies. After
undergrad, I hope to go to medical school and specialize in pediatrics.
Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, I'm still not quite used to these
Canadian winters, but I love living in Montreal. I'm studying abroad
second semester in Melbourne, so I'm looking forward to dodging the
worst of the cold this year! |

I am in my final year at McGill,
majoring in Psychology and minoring in French literature. I'm hoping to
enter grad school soon enough. This lab appeals to me as I very much
enjoy interacting with infants in order to gain a better understanding
of their cognitive and social development. I have Canadian and French
citizenship, but have lived in the States a good amount of years. As
such, I enjoy diversity and love to travel around. In my spare time, I
like discovering Montreal with friends, eating ( Montreal bagels are
the best!) and swimming. |

My name is Anna Hubbard and I am
currently in my third year of undergrad at McGill. I am (tentatively)
planning on getting a double major in Linguistics and Psychology, with
an eye to a career in Speech-Language Pathology. However, that is only
one of my many apres-university plans, which also involve travelling
the world (an unoriginal but oh-so-necessary endeavor) and pursuing
work in the performing arts. I grew up mostly in Montana, although I
was born and lived for a time in the equally remote state of Alaska. I
love dogs, whom I believe to be the ultimate healers; not unlike dogs,
I enjoy long afternoon naps. Other "favorites" include sushi, singing,
acting, dancing, travelling, and water sports. |

I
arrived in
Montreal 3 years ago from
Singapore as an international student and am now in my final year at
McGill, finishing up my degree in Psychology with a minor in
International Development studies and Behavioral Science. I plan to
train as a psychologist in Singapore and to go onto graduate school in
the near future. I am drawn to this lab as I feel that infancy and
childhood are critical periods in life for healthy development both
psychologically and physiologically and am interested in the cognitive
developmental process in children. In my free time I like to catch up
with friends over coffee, read and dance, viva montreal! |
|
I
am currently
completing my second year of my bachelors, in psychology here at McGill
University. In the future, I hope to further pursue my education in
counseling psychology. Volunteering in this lab has been a wonderful
experience, since I am acquiring a number of skills which I can apply
to infant development. When I’m not busy at school I love to
travel, read, watch movies and go swimming. |

I'm
in my third-year
majoring in Linguistics and minoring in Marketing. I just transferred
to McGill last semester and am really enjoying getting acquainted with
the city. I love volunteering in the lab because I can really take the
linguistic knowledge I've gained past the theoretical level. Working in
a lab is something I've never done before and it's great to be able to
absorb as much as I can in this new setting. Since I'm not in
Psychology, I definitely wasn't aware of just how much goes into
running studies!
As for career aspirations, all I know for
certain is that I really enjoy what I am learning right now. I try not
to stress too much about where it will take me, but I'll likely go on
to get a graduate degree in Linguistics, and would like to shift my
focus to historical linguistics.
When I'm not on campus I'm most likely cooking something delicious. |
|
I
am a second-year
undergraduate at McGill. I am majoring in
Linguistics and hope to complete minors in both Cognitive Science and
Philosophy. Once I have my Bachelor’s degree, I
would like to study
the neuroscience of language at the graduate level. My (many)
other
interests include drawing, jogging, singing, mathematics, and cosmology. |

I
have been working
at MIDC since last January and am entering my final year at McGill,
majoring in psychology. While studying psychology has fostered a love
for it, working in the lab has really instilled an appreciation in me,
for all the time and precision involved in running studies &
publishing data. While it will be incredibly difficult to leave
psychology behind, I hope to go to law school after I graduate, and
continue learning as much as I can about personality, child
development, and social psych as an interest. During my last year I
hope to spend as much time as I can with the people I love and truly
take advantage of all this incredible city has to offer. |
|
I
am about to enter
my final year of a Bachelor of Arts and Science at McGill, majoring in
Psychology and minoring in English and Anthropology. I hail from
Halifax, Nova Scotia, and enjoy playing sports, listening to music,
jamming on saxophone, and hanging out with friends. I am very pleased
to be involved in the McGill Infant Development Center where I hope to
help advance research about how babies learn language. |

My
name is Mike and
I’m really excited to be part of the MIDC. I am particularly
excited to have the opportunity to be involved in so many different
aspects of research in the lab. I graduated last year with a B.Com
degree (Psychology major) right here at McGill. Although I enjoyed my
Management studies, my true passion is in the field of Psychology. I
have been working the past year tutoring adolescents with learning
disabilities and absolutely love the challenging and incredibly
rewarding experience. I will be returning to McGill in the fall to
further my Psychology studies before applying to graduate school in
Counselling Psychology. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with
friends, playing baseball and watching CNBC. |
|
I’m
in my
third year of my BA at McGill, majoring in linguistics and
psychology. Since I’m relatively new to studying
psychology, working at MIDC is teaching me a lot about what goes into
research in this field. I am most interested in language and
how it is acquired and represented. After I graduate from
McGill, I plan to continue studying linguistics in Canada or the US,
where I grew up, but I’m not certain of any future
plans. My other interests include photography, friendly
trivia games, watching ‘Dr. Who,’ and trying to
speak better Spanish, German, and French. |

I
am going into my second year at McGill. I am majoring in
Psychology and doing a double minor in Educational Psychology and
Sociology. My younger sister who was diagnosed with Autism has been my
inspiration to study psychology and more specifically
language.
In the future I would love to go to graduate school and pursue a career
in counseling. In my spare time I love playing with my little
Yorkshire puppy and putting my psycho-analyzing abilities to use at
poker. |
|
I
majored in psychology and history at McGill, and am currently enjoying
the knowledge and experience that I am gaining here in the lab. During
my spare time I enjoy music, being outdoors, and being with friends. |
