Eli
here! I am a
third year student majoring in Psychology and minoring in English
Literature. I'm very happy to be studying with the MIDC, and I am
pleased to be working alongside an inspired group of students and
researchers. The Centre has provided me with an opportunity to learn a
lot about the cognitive development of infants, and I hope to make the
most of it! |
|
I'm
majoring in psychology and minoring in sociology, in my final year, and
I am leaning towards an interest in clinical psychology and motivation,
although I'm not 100% sure about this yet. I enjoy volunteering at the
MIDC and have worked with a lot of cool people here and I hope to
continue while I play out my McGill undergrad life. |

Hey!
My name is
Anabelle and I’m a second year student in the Bachelor of
Sciences program, majoring in Psychology. I have always loved kids and
working with them in MIDC will be a great opportunity for me to reunite
two of my passions, kids and psychology. This year, I’ll be
involved in the MIDC as a project student, so I’m thrilled to
learn all the steps involved in doing research. I’m
passionate by the brain, so, in the future, I aim to be a
neuropsychologist. In my free time, I enjoy shopping, spending time
with friends, travelling and playing soccer. |
|
I
am currently
pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Honours Psychology. Born and raised in
Montreal, I love coffee, I support the Habs and I enjoy spending
quality time with my friends and family. I think children are
fascinating to study - the capacity and speed at which they pick up
information is incredible. I look forward to working on my first
research project in this lab and to broadening my understanding about
infant development. |

Hi,
I'm Elisa! I am a third year student in the
Bachelor of Arts program at McGill, majoring in Psychology and
Linguistics. I have always been fascinated by children and by how fast
they learn about the world around them. My love for children, coupled
with my passion for languages have pointed me towards a future career
in Speech Language Pathology, a career that I believe will be both
interesting and rewarding. During my stay at MIDC, I hope to learn more
about the steps involved in doing research and to better understand the
development of linguistic abilities in children's first years of life.
|
|
Hi!
My major
interests are languages and travelling. I also love working with
children. Last year, I completed my Bachelor in Science majoring in
psychology at McGill University. Then, I spend six months travelling
the world, discovering new cultures and being exposed to new languages.
At the moment, I wish to gain some experience in research and I am
trying to learn two foreign languages. Eventually, I want to continue
my study in the field of cognitive neuropsychology. |

I'm
in the second
year of my BA doing a double major in Psychology and Linguistics. This
is my first semester with MIDC and I'm looking forward to learning more
about the projects and various methods used to conduct this
type of research. In particular I am interested in first and second
language acquisition and cognitive development of children. After my BA
I hope to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology and work mainly with
children. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, traveling and sailing. |
|
I’m
a U2
McGill Arts student majoring in psychology with a minor in linguistics,
hoping to pursue graduate studies in speech language pathology.
Volunteering at the MIDC is a wonderful opportunity that will allow me
to learn more about the fields of cognitive and linguistic development,
two areas that form my research interests. An exciting part of this
also consists of studying infants, because who wouldn’t want
to interact with babies? I am especially delighted to be gaining actual
research experience, because this will provide me with great
preparation to eventually undertake my own project as well as prepare
me for graduate school. During my spare time, I enjoy exercising,
decorating, cooking, making videos and simply relaxing with my family
and friends. |

Hello!
I am
currently in my third year at Mcgill majoring in Psychology and
minoring in History and Behavioral Science. I am very excited
about working in the lab this semester as I get to discover how infants
relate to language. This kind of research training will be great
experience for the future in that I hope to enter a clinical program
where I work with kids. Outside of school I enjoy hanging with
friends, watching movies, and dancing. |
|
Hi,
I’m
Ellie! I’m a second year student at McGill University,
majoring in Psychology and minoring in Behavioural Sciences. This is my
first semester volunteering at the McGill Infant Development Centre and
needless to say, I am thrilled to be on board. In the past I've had
many experiences working with children and adolescents and seeing how
they develop; however, this is the first opportunity for me to see the
development of infants. I am excited to explore the human mind in its
earliest stages and also learn how research is conducted. In the
future, I hope to pursue my PhD in Clinical Psychology or Counselling
Psychology. Outside of school, I enjoy volunteering, painting
portraits, cooking and listening to classical music. |

I
am a U3
undergraduate student majoring in Physiology at McGill University. I am
a volunteer at the MIDC and I really enjoy working with children. I am
interested in gaining a better understanding on how children learn and
on acquiring knowledge in a different field other than Physiology. I
also hope to use this experience in the lab to help discover what
career path is best suited for me. While not in the lab I am an active
member of McGill First Aid Service and served as VP Operations for two
years running. I spend my Sunday mornings teaching children with
disabilities how to swim with McGill's Making Waves program. |
|
I
completed my BSc in Honours Psychology at Dalhousie University and the
University of King's College. I am very excited about
taking some time off from my studies to coordinate the MIDC. In the
future, I hope to continue my studies in Clinical Psychology. For now,
though, I am thrilled to be a new resident of Montréal and
look
forward to lots of exploring in my spare time. |

Leah
Chalmers completed her undergraduate
degree at McGill in Art History, and following graduation studied as an
independent student at Concordia University. Leah has studied
linguistics, phonetics and psychology and has extensive volunteer
experience working with children with language disorders. She has
recently been accepted to the University of Western Ontario for their
Master’s of Speech Language Pathology program beginning this
fall.

I
am
generally interested in computational
developmental research in psychology and neuroscience. Ultimately I
hope to elucidate some potential associations between brain development
and cognitive development. More specifically, I want to use
computational models to disentangle the complex interactions between
environmental and intrinsic factors. So far I have been applying this
research paradigm to healthy and impaired social and language
development.

I'm
a
third year undergraduate student
double majoring in Psychology and Music, with a minor in Behavioural
Sciences. Working at the MIDC is so rewarding and has really opened my
eyes to the exciting field of research in developmental psychology. I
love children and am interested in both language acquisition and
cognitive development, so working at the Infant Development Center is a
great fit for me. I'm very excited to be gaining research experience
which I plan to use to pursue graduate studies in 2012 in the areas of
developmental psychopathology and speech-language pathology. My other
passions include traveling, music (making & listening),
photography, and spending time with friends.

When
Sean is not caught dreaming of
sunny days on the beach in California, he can be seen saving lives in
his free time - by a pool, that is! Life in "the fast lane,"
following the black line was a way of life for many years. Of course,
that would be in the chlorine-filled environment of a pool, as a
competitive swimmer.
With a love for writing and music at a tender age, Sean's unique tastes
in novels and music far surpassed those of his peers. Only diversified
interests in big screen releases, movies of various genres, rivaled
these passions. Perhaps these were precursors to the current
online music reviews he enjoys writing.
Sean's calm nature, yet quick wit, and love of impromptu comebacks
allow him to easily become a part of many social circles. Those who
know him best appreciate his loyalty. Academic interests and pursuits
in the field of psychology at Bishop’s University pretty much
round out the picture of this individual's profile!
