Research Summary

Dr. Abbott, who is based in the Department of Psychiatry, uses behavioral and pharmacological methods to investigate mechanisms the physiological basis of inflammatory pain is produced, as well as mechanisms by which analgesic drugs act.  In addition to animal studies, human studies of non-prescription analgesic agents are also ongoing.
