Neural art

These images were created by cascade-correlation networks with two continuous inputs, one continuous sigmoid output unit, and random connection weights. Output activation values are plotted in a blue-yellow-red color scheme as a function of the two input values. The image on the left is from a network with three hidden units; the one on the right is from a network with twenty hidden units. The contrast between them is intended to convey something of the complexity difference between simulated infant and adult knowledge representations. The software to create these images was written by Frederic Dandurand.
