Music Cognition (3 credits)

(Prerequisities: PSYC 212, PSYC 213, PSYC 204 (or equivalent)) Interdisciplinary study of music cognition and perception, with an emphasis on cognitive and experimental approaches. Topics include: psychoacoustics, music memory, tonality, neuropsychology of music, performance, talent and expertise, and developmental aspects.

Content:  Overview of major topics in the interdisciplinary study of music cognition and perception, with an emphasis on cognitive psychologicla and experimental approaches.  Topics include: psychoacoustics, music memory, scales, tonality, neuropsychology of music, performance, talent and expertise, absolute pitch, expectation, melody and rhythm.
