PSYC 495 (Fall or Winter)
Psychology Research Project  2 (6 credits)

(Prerequisite: PSYC 395 or equivalent.) (Restriction: Registration is by special arrangement with Psychology staff, and project proposals must be approved by the Department before registration.) (Registration is by special
arrangement with Psychology staff, and project proposals must be approved by the Department before registration.) (For more information see the Psychology Department website.) Supervised research project.

Method:  Under supervision by Psychology faculty, students carry out a research project and write a paper describing their results and reviewing the relevant literature.  It is expected that projects will be experimental in nature and that they will conform with the ethical requirements for animal or human research approved by the relevant committees at McGill.  The application and certification of ethical review must be attached to the final report as an appendix.  The report will take the form of a manuscript prepared for submission to a learned journal in the format described by style manual of the American Psychological Association.

Students wishing to undertake such a research project should make arrangements with a potential supervisor in July or August (for Fall term course) or October or November (for Winter term) of the preceding semester and submit a Project Proposal by August 31st (for Fall term) and December 15th (for Winter term) on a form available from the Undergraduate Advisors Office.  Details of the procedures to follow are included with the Project Proposal form.
